# Russian Plague Tracker — source-linked reported cases

Cleaned, dated news and public-source reporting on the 2026 Russia/Irkutsk plague event: reported infections, deaths, recoveries, local quarantine measures and observation admissions. Includes suspected diagnoses and partial coverage; this is a community tracker, not an official surveillance dataset.

## API

No API key. Read with GET; HEAD and conditional If-None-Match requests are supported by the Bun server. CORS is enabled. Query parameters are not supported; use explicit paths and follow next links. Country codes are uppercase ISO alpha-2, plus XK. Reports are paginated at 50 per page.

## Fields

- **infected**: People currently reported infected at the stated asOf date, including suspected diagnoses. Observation admissions alone are separate.
- **dead**: Cumulative reported event-linked deaths, including suspected diagnoses; not deaths on the publication day.
- **recovered**: Cumulative reported recoveries; release from precautionary quarantine alone is not recovery.
- **unknown**: null means no usable reported value. Zero is only used when a source explicitly reports zero.
- **aggregation**: Country figures include local subtotals where parent counts are missing. Never add country and state counts or sum cumulative snapshots across dates. Worldwide counts sum the latest country figures; contributing dates and coverage can differ.
- **evidence**: Reputable news reporting is accepted as stated without independent verification or official confirmation. Source caveats remain in dated record notes. Reported counts do not imply laboratory-confirmed diagnoses.
- **dates**: asOf describes the reporting snapshot or metric evidence date. updatedAt describes a repository publication or correction, not a new incident or collection attempt.

Each metric includes value, asOf, basis, partial, contributingAreas and sources. sources preserve the original publisher, URL, publication date and retrieval date. Country histories retain record notes with qualifications and corrections. Quarantines retain both source status and currentStatus; evidence older than seven days becomes unknown. Observations remain separate from infection counts.

## Citation

Cite the response citationUrl and original source links, with the metric asOf date. Record revision and updatedAt when saving an extract. Stable dated history can receive corrections; revision is a snapshot identifier, not an immutable archive URL. Do not describe these reported totals as official or laboratory-confirmed unless the original source supports that claim.

The country registry is derived from [mledoze/countries](https://github.com/mledoze/countries) under [ODbL 1.0](https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/). Linked articles remain with their publishers; only short summaries and source metadata are redistributed. No additional license for third-party reporting is implied. The API serves published repository data; requests do not trigger collection or AI jobs.
